Dr. Buttner is a microbiologist whose research has been focused on bioaerosol sampling and analysis, with emphasis on detection of airborne microorganisms that are potential human health risks. Dr. Buttner also conducts research involving antibiotic-resistant microorganisms of public health concern. Dr. Buttner currently serves on the editorial board of the journal, Applied and Environmental Microbiology , and as a committee member for the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers, SSPC 62.1, Ventilation for Acceptable Indoor Air Quality .
