SPH Curriculum Committee

Election of Chair

Chuck Regin agreed, by consent of all present, to serve as the committee chair

Term of Office
CR – one year
GG – two years
CC – two years

Review of the Curriculum Committee Guidelines

  • The College of Education (COE) curriculum committee guidelines bylaws were reviewed and discussed
  • Appropriate changes were made to the COE curriculum committee guidelines bylaws to make them appropriate for the School of Public Health (SPH)
  • CR will make necessary changes to the document and forward it to the Curriculum Committee for concurrence
  • The committee agreed, by majority vote, that a statement should be added allowing the committee to forward substantive changes to the graduate curriculum for substantive changes in the graduate program
  • The committee agreed, by majority vote, to include a statement regarding appropriate paperwork to be submitted.
  • The committee approved, by majority vote, the edits made to the document

Discussion of Current Business

  • Chuck Moseley attended briefly to provide clarification for the following HCA courses
    • HCA 709 ( Health Care Administration Capstone Course )
      • Change in title and description of course
    • HCA 713 ( Internship in Health Care Administration)
      • New course
    • HCA 714 ( Thesis Research)
      • New course
  • All courses were approved by majority vote

Other Business

  • GG agreed to find out if the SPH has a faculty representative on the UNLV Graduate College Curriculum Committee and, if not, how appointments are made to the committee
  • CR agreed to verify the approval process for acceptance of the SPH Curriculum Committee Guidelines by the SPH faculty
  • CC agreed to find out how to archive minutes on the SPH web site
